Course: BUS 895
Course title: Research Project in Business
Bulletin description: "Graduate Approved Program (GAP) and Proposal for Culminating Experience Requirement forms must be approved by the Graduate Division before registration."
OK, that's not a very useful course description from the bulletin, now is it? The research project I did picked up where I left off in IBUS 620 and IBUS 690: I put together a business plan for a health care product that was not previously available in Vietnam. To clarify, the product did not seem to be available during my 2007 visit to Vietnam, but was available on my return trip during the summer of 2008.
The business plan included:
- Environmental analyis
- Industry analysis
- Competitive analysis
- A business model, which included an analysis of competencies and how these could be used to create a competitive advantage
- Functional plans, including managment, finance and accounting, operations, IT, human resources, customer service, marketing and sales
- SWOT analysis
- An application of Porter's Five Forces Model
- The strategic use of the Internet
My thanks go out to my two readers for their guidance and encouragement!
